It gives us immense joy to announce the most awaited event of the year for our children! This year, the “ALOHA Mental Arithmetic International Competition”, which will be held in Madrid,  the capital of Spain. Madrid, is the city that pulsates with energy, where rich history meets vibrant modernity, and where gastronomic delights await around every corner. From its iconic landmarks to its bustling streets, Madrid promises an unforgettable experience for all. Immerse yourself in the grandeur of Madrid’s historic sites and cultural gems. And for the food enthusiasts, it gives the most incredible gastronomic experience ever. We invite you to join us in Madrid this summer!

This is an event that tests the perfect mind and hand coordination skills needed to master Arithmetics!

An action packed amazing celebration awaits you. We count on you to make this competition an unforgettable experience!

Registration are open until May 20th 2024.

Step on it!

It’s easy to register for the event. You just have to follow some simple steps:

  1. Invite your parents to the Competition.
  2. Pre-register online.
  3. Print your confirmation and go to your ALOHA Centre.
  4. Remit the fee at your ALOHA Centre to confirm the registration.
  5. Encourage your ALOHA friends to join.
  6. Practice every day with zeal vigor and enthusiasm. Remember you will be competing with students from different countries.
  7. Get set and go and enjoy Spain!

Places to visit.

Madrid: It is the capital and most populous city of Spain and the second largest city in the European Union. It is widely recognized for landmarks such as the Royal Palace of Madrid, the Almudena Cathedral, the beautiful Plaza de Cibeles, the famous Puerta de Alcalá and the Bernabéu Stadium the home of Real Madrid.

The Royal Palace of Madrid: Constructed in the 18th century, it is a stunning architectural masterpiece and a symbol of Spain’s rich history and cultural heritage. It serves as the official residence of the Spanish royal family. Its highlights include the Throne Room, the Hall of Mirrors, the Royal Chapel, and the Royal Armory, which houses an impressive collection of historical weapons and armor.

Almudena Cathedral: Situated in the heart of Madrid, this masterpiece of architecture includes a Neoclassical, Gothic and Baroque style. Its construction started on the 19th century, but it was finished only in the late 20th century making it a unique blend of historical and contemporary influences.

Plaza de Cibeles: It is an iconic square with a stunning architecture and prominent landmarks around such as the City Hall and the majestic Banco de España. Dominating the plaza is the magnificent Cybele Fountain, featuring the goddess Cybele on a chariot drawn by lions, symbolizing fertility, and abundance.

Puerta de Alcalá: Built in the late 18th century, this majestic neoclassical gate is adorned with intricate carvings and sculptural details, showcasing the majesty and elegance of Spanish architecture. Initially functioning as one of the five royal gates to the city, the Puerta de Alcalá now stands as a beloved landmark and popular tourist attraction, offering stunning views and it is also a location used for various events and celebrations.

Bernabéu Stadium: Home of the magnificent Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, it has witnessed countless historic moments since its foundation in 1947. With seating for over 80,000 fervent fans, its colossal design embodies the passion and intensity of Spanish football. It stands as a towering symbol of football greatness where legends are made, and dreams realized.

Retiro Park: Originally created as a royal garden in the 17th century, it has since become one of Madrid’s most beloved public parks, offering a serene escape for locals and visitors alike. One of its most iconic features is the Crystal Palace, a stunning glass pavilion that hosts temporary art exhibitions and events. Retiro Park offers a delightful retreat from the urban hustle and bustle, inviting all who visit to relax, rejuvenate, and revel in its natural splendor.

Pamper your taste buds:

Madrid is a paradise of diverse and delicious food of all kinds.  You will be able to taste the delicious expressions of traditional food like Paella, Tortilla Española, and delicious desserts like Churros with chocolate.  Every dish in your journey will be exquisite, surprising and a treat to your appetite.

Iberian Ham: This cured ham made from Iberian pigs is a prized delicacy in Spain. With its rich flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture, it’s often served thinly sliced as a tapa or alongside bread and cheese.

Paella: it is a flavorful rice dish typically cooked with saffron, seafood (such as shrimp, clams, and mussels), chicken, rabbit, and vegetables. There are also variations like seafood paella and mixed paella with chicken.

Patatas Bravas: A quintessential tapas dish, it consists of crispy fried potatoes served in bite-sized cubes, generously drizzled with a flavorful and spicy tomato-based sauced called the ‘brava’. This iconic dish can be savored as a tapa or a side dish.

Tortilla Española: Also known as Spanish omelette, this classic dish consists of eggs, potatoes, and onions cooked in olive oil. It’s an essential of Spanish cuisine and can be enjoyed as a tapa, sandwich filling, or main course.

Gazpacho: A refreshing cold soup made from tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, onions, garlic, olive oil, vinegar, and bread, gazpacho is perfect for hot summer days. It’s typically served chilled and garnished with diced vegetables.

Churros with chocolate: A beloved Spanish dessert or indulgent breakfast treat, churros are fried dough pastries dusted with sugar and often served with a cup of thick, rich hot chocolate for dipping.
