Ages Itineraries
The ALOHA Mental Arithmetic program has 3 itineraries: Tiny Tots Kinder (ages 3 to 5), Tiny Tots (ages 6 to 7), and Kids (ages 8 to 13).
All children aged between 3 and 13 years old can begin this program and, based on proven experience, we are certain that this program will enhance the academic success of each child while always respecting their individual characteristics.
The Kinder Tiny Tots itinerary is designed for children aged 3 to 5 and is intended to promote essential skills for these ages.
- Recognizing and writing the numbers from 1 to 9, with a real understanding of the concept of number.
- Identify the logical sequence of numbers and symbols.
- Introducing the use of the SOROBAN abacus
- To empower individuals to improve spatial orientation.
- Identify and express emotions; develop teamwork skills.
- Strengthen motor coordination.
- Strengthening language and communication skills, among other things.
In this program, developed for younger children, the pedagogical basis rests on the theory of multiple intelligences, proposed by the American psychologist Howard Gardner, which reinforces that we are all born with the potential to develop eight types of intelligence. All types of intelligence are equally important and all contribute to development and learning, which is the main objective of the Kinder program.
This program is divided into 2 levels and is considered a preparation for the next program – Tiny Tots – to which students progress after completing the initial 2 levels.
The Tiny Tots itinerary is designed for students aged 6 to 7 and introduces mental arithmetic from a young age.
Upon joining the activity, students in this age group receive an abacus and very appealing books that help them learn the most basic calculations, making mathematics a lot of fun. ALOHA helps motivate and shape children’s brains by introducing techniques that maintain their interest and motivation in learning.
Initially, children use the abacus as their main tool. However, as they become more confident, they begin to visualize (imagine) the abacus mentally and perform calculations without using it.
This itinerary is divided into 10 levels, each with an average duration of 4 months (this time is only a reference, since each student progresses at their own pace, and may complete more or fewer levels within this time period). The fundamental aspect is that students develop a taste for and motivation to learn, not the time it takes to consolidate the different strategic concepts. After completing this itinerary, students will be able to perform various operations: adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, calculating square roots, powers, fractions, among many others, quickly and easily, using only the visualization of the abacus.
The Kids itinerary is aimed at children between 8 and 13 years old (starting age). This course is divided into 8 levels, each lasting 4 months. As with the Tiny Tots itinerary, this time is only an average, as the program is flexible and adapts to the student’s pace, who may take more or less time to complete the different levels.
Upon joining ALOHA, students of these ages receive an abacus and books corresponding to the itinerary they are attending. In the case of Kids students, as they start at an older age compared to other itineraries, the books are adapted to their age and interests. In the first classes, students use the abacus to perform calculations, but quickly abandon this instrument and begin to perform operations by visualizing the SOROBAN abacus.
Although there are 2 fewer levels than the Tiny Tots itinerary, after completing this itinerary, students will be able to perform the same operations.
