Presentation
ALOHA Mental Arithmetic Portugal is promoting the Video Contest entitled “Playing with Math” until May 15, 2024. The main objective of this contest is to provide children attending the ALOHA Mental Arithmetic Program at different educational levels with the opportunity to share their love of Mathematics, particularly considering the methodology of the ALOHA Program.
As part of the celebrations for the International Day of Mathematics, whose theme for 2024 is “Playing with Math”, participants are expected to show, through a video with a maximum duration of 1 minute, what “Playing with Mathematics” means to them, taking into account their journey with the ALOHA Mental Arithmetic Program.
Recipients
The competition is open to all children in Pre-School Education and students in Primary and Secondary Education who attend the ALOHA Program in Portugal.
The competition includes five application categories:
A – Pre-School Education
B – 1st Cycle of Basic Education
C – 2nd Cycle of Basic Education
D – 3rd Cycle of Basic Education
E – Secondary Education
Prémios
- The three best videos in each category will receive awards.
- The teachers who create the best video in each category will receive an award.
- The awards will be announced soon.
Participation rules
- Applications can be individual or in groups (maximum of 3 participants).
- Each participant or group of participants may only submit one video.
- The duration cannot exceed 1 minute.
- Each application must be supervised by an ALOHA Professor.
- The video must be submitted on the website https://alohaportugal.pt by 11:59 PM on May 15, 2024, along with the Parental/Guardian Authorization (click to download) for each participant.
- Contestants are responsible for the originality of the submitted videos, guaranteeing their authorship and assuming all responsibility arising from any claims by third parties regarding the violation of intellectual property rights, or other rights arising from applicable law.
- Entrants authorize ALOHA Mental Arithmetic Portugal to reproduce, display, publicly communicate, and share their entries on its website, social media, printed materials, and exhibitions, as outlined in the Competition Rules.
- Participation in the contest implies acceptance of each and every one of its rules.
Determination of the winners
The voting and selection of the best videos will take place in two stages, as follows:
- All videos that meet the conditions will be published on the ALOHA Mental Arithmetic Portugal Facebook and Instagram pages on May 16th, from which date a public vote will begin and will run until 11:59 pm on June 16th.
- Votes will be tallied by adding the number of “likes” and/or “love” reactions and the number of shares.
- In each category, the 5 videos with the most votes will be selected.
- From these 5 finalists, the Jury will determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category, according to the following criteria: suitability of the work to the theme of the competition, creativity and originality.
- The top three finishers in each category will be announced during the ALOHA 2024 National Mental Calculation Championship, which will take place in Leiria on June 29th.
